Abstract

This is a new and untried non-empirical theory about the origins of weather. You will encounter some new terms used to describe weather. Horizontal weather, or tangential weather, are two of those phrases. The earth’s spin creates centripetal forces proportional to circular acceleration velocity at that point on the globe. The earth’s atmosphere is essentially in a spherical corridor containing and constraining the atmosphere. The spherical corridor’s constraints convert centripetal forces into forces tangential to the earth’s surface. These concepts and others will be discussed and derived in detail in this abstract and elsewhere in this trieste on 21st Century Weather Science Theory.

Dr. Albert Einstein spent his lifetime searching for a unifying theory in physics. This may be the unifying theory for weather science. I hope that others will take notice of this pig’s ear and help turn it into the silk purse containing all the elements to understand and eventually control weather. One offshoot is a patent I’ve already taken on control of tornadoes. Remember the difference between a crackpot and a theoretician is that the theoretician can explain why his theory is consistent with the real world. This series of documents is the why.

Just as the unifying theory in physics will be based on physical similarities, this paper points out similarities between cold fronts, hurricanes, tornadoes and any other weather phenomenon. The only qualifier is that there is also a vertical weather theory that combines with the horizontal weather theory and both are contained in this paper.

The primary key to this theory is tangential weather meaning the movement of the atmosphere perpendicular to the earth’s surface due to centripetal force. Many people can understand tangential weather easier if it’s called horizontal weather. Horizontal weather is quite complicated at first because it is zero at the poles and equator and maximal at about 35 degrees latitude. I use the terms tangential weather and horizontal weather interchangeably depending on which is easier to understand for the particular topic.

I’ve divided this abstract into the following sections to accommodate the page format of Internet web sites. I am just too good to you. You’re welcome.

  • A Thought Experiment – Gives an abstract explanation of tangential weather.
  • Real World – Discusses the derivation of tangential (horizontal) forces due to earth’s centripetal field.
  • Perspective – Discusses current weather theories comparing this theory with them as well as the resistance I expect to acceptance of this new theory.
  • Improvements – Discusses a particular improvement in tornado research based on this theory.
  • Contrails – Discusses how and why this theory was developed.

This is the longest abstract I’ve ever seen, but it is necessary because this paper introduces a completely new way of thinking about, quantifying and affecting weather.

Next A though experiment
